Group play began Saturday with a solid 3-1 outing against Rise SC. The following day, G10/11 returned to the pitch for a close battle against Sting CC, ending in a 2-2 draw. The next morning, FIERCE stepped onto the pitch for the Final against Dynamos. Both teams started energetically, with the Dynamos getting on the scoreboard 6 minutes in. FIERCE responded quickly, with Ava Z. launching a shot from distance that beat the keeper. Despite opportunities on both ends, the teams remained tied 1-1 at half. The game continued in a gridlock until late in the second half, when Dynamos netted 2 more goals to seal the win.
Although the final did not go their way, FIERCE G10/11's undefeated record in group play earned them advancement to Regionals! The team will attend the National Cup South Central Regional - the next stop on the pathway to Nationals - in Oklahoma June 11-14. Champions from the South Central Regional will then advance to the National Cup Finals in Colorado July 10-14.
With their first stop on the road to Nationals behind them, G10/11 now orients its focus to the South Central Regional in Oklahoma next summer. FIERCE looks forward to supporting the team on yet another club quest for a Nationals Title!
