Over the past four summers, the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) has grown its second tier to provide developmental opportunities to high school upperclassmen and collegiate athletes. This year, the WPSL announced the next step in the second tier's evolution: the league has reimagined WPSL U21 and launched WPSL Division II in its stead.
The WPSL describes WPSL Division II as "the league's second division in its pathway pyramid. The WPSL Division II structure is geared toward an introduction into the WPSL's competition and standards while creating a true developmental pathway within the league's historic platform."

On March 5th, the WPSL announced FIERCE as one of 13 teams returning to this platform. FIERCE is ecstatic to continue its partnership with the WPSL after its inaugural WPSL season success in 2023, and continued payoffs seen for club players in their second consecutive season! The club's ongoing Semi-Pro platform continues to empower FIERCE college alum and current HS upperclassmen with opportunities to keep meaningful touches on the ball over the summer and play in challenging matches. Executive Director Nick Marquez leads FIERCE's WPSL program alongside Director of Coaching Kamille Cervantes, with direct support from other members of FIERCE's coaching staff.
Coach Nick expressed his excitement for FIERCE to compete in the WPSL for the third consecutive year:
This platform has been essential in preparing our student-athletes for the next level, including NCAA, NJCAA, and NAIA programs, while also helping our alumni at college programs stay sharp against elite opposition. The league offers our players an opportunity to compete at a high level and showcase their talents, which is critical for their development and recruitment. Competing in the WPSL is a natural extension of our National League campaign, giving our athletes a chance to challenge themselves further after college showcases and other top-tier competitions. With professional staff, referees, and trainers, the WPSL provides a college-like environment that supports our players' growth. At FIERCE, we’re committed to empowering female athletes, and the WPSL aligns perfectly with that mission, helping to foster their growth both on and off the pitch. We look forward to another season of competition, growth, and success, and invite you to follow our journey and learn more about how FIERCE is shaping the future of women’s soccer.
The 2025 WPSL Division II season will run May 5-July 31. The club looks forward to the league's schedule release next month, and ramping up its own WPSL program soon!
