In the past few months, the Austin American-Statesman kicked off its Faces Off The Field Campaign, designed to highlight standout athletes across the Austin area. On March 18th, the publication released a spotlight on 06G NL's Audrey Moore. Check out the feature below!

Faces off the field gives a deep look into the thoughts and lives of high school student-athletes in the Austin area. Today we feature Weiss soccer player Audrey Moore, a senior whose favorite vacation was a trip to London, Paris and Munich with her family.

All about Audrey: Aspiring artist hopes to travel

Tell something about you that most people don't know.

I enjoy art. Not just drawing and creating it myself but learning about it, looking and fully appreciating it. I could spend hours in any art museum and enjoy it the whole time.

If you could be any superhero, who would you be?

I'd say Scarlet Witch. Like me, she has a small stature but she's still one of the most powerful heroes with telekinesis and being able to change reality. I would not only get to fly and move things with my mind, but I could literally change the world for the better.

What has been your favorite vacation?

Going to Europe, specifically London, Paris, and Munich in the summer of 2023 with my mom, dad and sister. Being so far removed from my normal life and immersed in another culture made every moment, even the mundane ones, interesting and enjoyable. What I enjoyed most were the iconic monuments, the art museums, castles, great weather and of course the food.

Tell me something on your bucket list.

I don’t really have specifics, but traveling. I think visiting each continent besides Antarctica would be incredible. Getting to see different environments, cultures, and cuisines would be an amazing and eye-opening experience. I actually hope to experience this in college with a semester abroad.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I’m going to the University of Texas to major in economics and hoping to play on their women's club soccer team.

Playoff win produces sweet memory

What has been your favorite memory of Weiss soccer?

There have been so many special moments, but I’d say winning our first-round playoff game last year against Mansfield Legacy was my favorite. It was the first playoff game we had won in 6A and was sort of revenge for being knocked out of the playoffs by them the previous year. Right after the whistle blew, "Sweet Caroline" started playing and now I’m brought back to that winning feeling and singing with my teammates every time I hear it.

Do you have any game-day rituals?

I’m not too superstitious, but each game I use the same color of pre-wrap for my hair this season it’s orange. I wear the same sweatshirt for warming up and try to fit in a power nap leading up to the game. I will say before I take a corner or free kick I must re-tighten my pony tail or else I won’t send a good ball.

Has soccer taught you any lessons you apply to daily life?

Soccer has taught me to bring a good energy and mindset to any activity I do. If you enter a game or practice with a tired or annoyed energy you won't get the full potential out of yourself, your teammates or the game. Whether a test, class, or really any event in my day to day, if I start it with a positive energy the entire process is not only easier but more enjoyable.

Dream dinner: Chosen four are all right, all right, all right

If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, who would they be?

I'm going to choose Mathew McConaughey, Michelle Obama, Alex Morgan and Leonardo da Vinci.

Matthew McConaughey?

I think he'd be very welcoming and have good life advice he'd want to share. Also, as a UT fan and soon-to-be student, I'd love to meet him just because of his involvement there.

You're in charge of the menu. What will you have served?

Definitely seafood. It's my favorite meal and I think it might calm my nerves that would come naturally when having a meal with those four people.
