Technical Director

We are excited to announce a new career opportunity at FIERCE!

The Technical Director will report to our Executive Director and work in conjunction with our Operations Director to oversee all football-related programs and activities. The servant-leader hired will establish and grow our new boys programs, while scaling best practices and SOPs to our thriving girls program as well. The Technical Director will lead all technical staff and is responsible for implementing the "FIERCE Way" at every level, ranging from Academy to Pre-Collegiate and ProAm platforms. 

Job Description

Terms

  • The Technical Director position is a contracted role with a term of one (1) year.

  • The technical year begins annually on June 1 and runs through May 1.

  • The board of directors can decide to begin the contract earlier depending on start date.

  • The contract may be extended at the end of each term (or any time prior) at the discretion of the Executive Director and pending board approval.


Base Expectations

  • The Technical Director will directly train between 2 and 4 teams.

  • The Technical Director oversees development year-round, including winter and summer months.

  • The scope of the Technical Director role extends to every player, team, and program across the entire FIERCE United club.

  • The Technical Director will be expected to comply with the mission statement, by-laws, policies, and philosophies of FIERCE United.


Reporting

  • The Technical Director reports to the Executive Director with support from the Operations Director.

  • These three roles are expected to convene weekly for a senior leadership meeting.

  • The Technical Director oversees all football staff and will lead a weekly coaches meeting.

  • The Technical Director will work with the Finance Director to create a budget pertaining to technical and competitive needs (i.e. staff, equipment, tournaments, league play).

  • The Technical Director is expected to assist coaches in managing all parent and TM inquiries for "on-the-pitch" matters - escalating to the Operations Director, Executive Director, or Ombudsperson when necessary.

Player Development

  • Document the FIERCE player development philosophy, systems of play, Team Tactical Principles (TTPs), pool training methodology, player roles, and long-term growth objectives.

  • Implement a curriculum for the long-term development of each age group and regularly communicate plans on a weekly basis to players and staff.

  • Create an exhaustive training, match, and tournament plan for the technical year.

  • Attend games and training sessions to ensure the club philosophy is being followed.

  • Oversee and improve the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process to foster player growth.

  • Formalize and improve FIERCE futsal, physical literacy, and leadership programs.

  • Build sustainable grassroots programs that attract new players to FIERCE.

  • Identify competitive platforms that provide FIERCE players unique development opportunities.

  • Promote and direct all tryouts and Player Opportunity Events (POEs)

  • Retain players who meet the FIERCE cultural and technical standards.

Coach Development

  • Identify, recruit, hire, onboard, train and assign junior and senior staff.

  • Document staff expectations and create a formal program for evaluation.

  • Lead meetings, clinics and seminars to foster continued staff development.

  • Develop and improve coaches to help players maximize their potential at all ages.

  • Provide mentorship to the College & GK Director, Pro-Am Manager, and other senior staff.

  • Work with the Operations Director to staff and support winter and summer programs.

  • Establish FIERCE as a thought leader and peer among like-minded national clubs.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist the Ops Director and TMs with rostering, registration, and logistics for all competitions.

  • Guide staff decisions regarding player movement (promotion/demotion) and Club Pass.

  • Serve as the football contact for governing bodies and attend/share updates from meetings.

  • Assist with the design of college recruitment, post-secondary, and "FIERCE Girls Cup" programs. 

  • Create curriculum and lead sessions as needed for Texas Soccer Institute (a.k.a. "FIERCE Prep").

  • Provide content for the FIERCE website, social media, and newsletter to highlight successes.

Employment Conditions

  • The Technical Director cannot have a professional affiliation with any other soccer club.

  • The Technical Director cannot train players or teams in any other soccer organization.

  • The Technical Director must disclose all outside affiliations and/or conflicts of interest.

Required Qualifications

  • USSF "B" License (or equivalent)

  • 5+ years coaching experience

  • Proven track record of success developing life-ready leaders

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • USSF "A" License (or equivalent)

  • Director of Coaching certification

  • 3+ years of Technical Director / DOC experience (or similar role)

  • 10+ years coaching experience

  • Professional playing experience

  • Strong collegiate soccer network

Compensation

  • Commensurate with experience
